Insurance Information

Does my health insurance cover these sessions?

Jodi is currently an "in-network" provider for  Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield/Florida Blue,  Cigna,  United, Beacon, and Magellan.  HOWEVER, Jodi does not bill your insurance directly. You may request a receipt, or "superbill" after your session to privately submit to your insurance for any eligible reimbursement from them.  You are responsible for the payment of each session, regardless of whether you plan to seek any reimbursement from your insurance company or not. Please  be  aware  that  the  sessions  may  be  fully  or  partially  covered  by  your  health  insurance / employee  benefit  plan.

In order to help you, the following suggestions are made for you to consider utilizing your insurance benefits despite Jodi not billing them directly. Please  call  your  insurance  company  with  the  following  questions  to  get  the  necessary  information  required  to  check  if  you're  covered:

  1. Do  I  have  Out-Patient,  Mental  Health  benefits?
  2. Is  Jodi Miller, LMHC  considered  In-Network  or  Out-Of-Network  under  my  plan?
  3. Does  my  plan  cover  Out-Of-Network  providers?
  4. For  an  In-Office  visit,  do  I  have  a  deductible?  If  so,  has  it  been  met?
  5. What  is  my  Co-Pay  or  Co-Insurance  per  visit?
  6. How  many  visits  per  calendar  year  is  covered  under  my  plan?
  7. Is  approval  needed  from  my  primary  care  physician?
  8. How can I be reimbursed for counseling I have paid out-of-pocket for?
  9. Is there any specific form or paperwork I need, or the therapist needs to complete?

Many  clients have reported paying  out-of-pocket (Self-Pay)  has given them more control over their health decisions.  Since  certain  types  of  counseling/therapy  might  not  be  covered  by  your  health  insurance  plan,  self-pay  allows  you  to  stay  in  control  of  your  treatment.  Self-pay  also  allows  you  to  determine  the  quantity  of  your  treatment  visits  based  on  YOUR  needs  rather  than  your  ALLOWED  number  of  sessions  per  your  insurance  company.

Overall,  paying  out-of-pocket  diminishes  the  exposure  of  your  protected  health  information (PHI).  We  can  ensure  your  privacy  in  the  highest  degree  possible  (with  exceptions  to  confidentiality  such  as  suicidal  ideation, etc.).  No  reports  of  your  treatment  are  shared  with  your  insurance  and  all  records  remain  with  the  therapist  only.  Further,  no  records  of  therapy  exist  in  the  Medical  Information  Bureau (MIB).  Otherwise,  MIB  could  potentially  compromise  your  ability  to  get  current  or  future  life,  health,  disability,  or  long-term  care  insurance.

**Many  health  insurance  companies  require  a  deductible  to  be  met  before  they  start  paying  for  any  mental  health  services,  so  you  may  be  paying  out-of-pocket  anyway.
